AC Pipe Evaluation and Testing
Asbestos fibers, less than 0.5 microns wide and 3 to 5 inches long
(invisible to the naked eye) and naturally occurring mined material have
traditionally been used as construction materials in various forms. Found in
older constructions in water/sewer lines, insulation, floor tiles, roofing,
shingles and other coatings, asbestos fibers are known to be harmless
when wet and not airborne. Serious health problems arise when asbestos
containing materials (ACM) are handled without following proper safety
regulations and guidelines. ACMs are released during home remodeling,
public water line piping bursts, and sprocesses of dry sanding/ cutting of
ACM.

MEIC has undertaken a new initiative of setting up AC product testing labs
and failure analysis programs to help various cities with the task of testing
and evaluation of their public utility water supply lines and waste water pipe
lines made from asbestos-concrete. MEIC is one of the few laboratories
that has both experts and facilities to handle large asbestos made objects
and safely test them for various mechanical, material, and structural
properties. A DEQ certified supervisor for Asbestos Abatement Projects,
and trained and certified technical staff with materials, mechanical, and
product testing background undertake work on the projects related to
asbestos containing materials.
In addition to ACM related testing and consulting support, MEIC also
specializes in ACM product related failure investigation (involving break
shoes, shingles, insulation, pipes, fittings, plumbing, and many more
products), strain gaging, non-destructive evaluation services, fractography,
microscopic investigation, pipeline inspections, and mechanical testing.

Companies desirous of having ACM’s
tested in a most professional and safe
manner are encouraged to discuss
their needs on ACM consultation with
our certified inspector.
