What is Failure Analysis
A flaw in the product structure design, imperfect material, manufacturing or usage habitat (product handling, corrosion, environment, etc.,) can result in a structure failure. MEIC uses state of the art tools, including Fractography, Metallography, optical spectroscopy and Mechanical and Chemical Analysis to determine the cause(s) of such accidents or failure. A thorough failure analysis performed by MEIC’s experienced engineering and scientific staff provides the cause of the true failure mode and a solution that our valued customers can implement to prevent premature failures.
MEI-CHARLTON, INC. offers a total solution approach, covering all metallurgical testing needs. This, coupled with our engineering analysis tools, allows our clients to receive a complete evaluation of the root cause of a component/product failure. |

Extending infrastructure life is attractive as it provides cost savings, avoids disruptions to daily life, and is a fast and efficient substitute to building new infrastructure. Corrosion control for above ground structures, underground and underwater metal structures and pipelines is a large and growing industry. MEIC provides corrosion engineering services to federal, state and local governments, port authorities, transit systems and airport operators and private industry. Our services include: corrosion studies for new and existing structures, corrosion control designs and specifications for cathodic protection systems, AC and DC current drainage systems, corrosions monitoring systems, test facilities and coatings, corrosion control training, technical assistance during construction, and stray current analysis. |
