What is Field Evaluation?

Field Evaluation Process: MEIC field evaluation process consists of · Product design & documentation review. · construction and test data review. · component list and suitability review for end use application (meet the National Electrical Code and other applicable standards). · evaluation of electrical equipment at customer site. · Perform additional (test if any) on the produce/equipment, at customer site.
If product/equipment is compliant Certify product/equipment compliance with the applicable requirements of the standard: Apply MEIC’s Field Evaluation Mark. Send comprehensive field evaluation report to the Authority Having jurisdiction.

Application process: Upon request from the client to perform a Field Evaluation, we ask the client to send information about the product/equipment, including schematics, component list or bill of materials, test records, location of installation, etc. We gather as much information as we can from the client to help us determine the evaluation cost so we can provide an accurate quote for the field evaluation. Once this is done, we send the client an application form to fill out and send back, along with a check or purchase order authorizing us to proceed. Once these are received, we assign an engineer to the project and it proceeds in a timely manner so as to meet the client’s need.

If the product/equipment is non-compliant · Non-compliant items documented and a list of the items needing correction is prepared, and a detailed report issued to the client.
· At this point, the work is on hold until the client has made the necessary corrections and notified us for further evaluation.
· MEIC's staff (if asked for) work with the client to bring the produce/equipment into compliance.
· after the necessary corrections, perform a final product inspection and verify all corrections and compliance.
To assist in an expedited evaluation we ask prospective clients to pay attention to the following:
Provide a current and complete set of schematics, electrical components/parts list and test records if available. Have a person responsible for operating or the equipment available during the evaluation to answer our questions (if any). |
